Why do I want
to do this?
It may sound corny, but I want to give something
back to this community that has given so much to
me. I have lived in Pleasanton for 39 years,
attended its schools and chose to raise my family
here. I have seen much change in Pleasanton—some
good and some bad. In the current economic climate
I worry that the next generation of carpenters,
police officers, teachers, secretaries, engineers,
managers, CEOs, and stay-at-home parents won't
receive the excellent education that Pleasanton
has consistently delivered and which is reflected
in our property values. I know this community, I
know the schools and I will use my education and
business experience to benefit our school
district.
What does
Jeff Bowser offer as a school board trustee?
I know how education works. I have a
Master's Degree in Educational Leadership with a
credential as a professional educator. I worked
for 13 years as a teacher, and an administrator at
the school, district and county levels. This
experience—combined with my expertise in business
and management over the past 13 years in the
private sector—makes me a unique candidate to see
both the education and business perspective of
teaching and learning. I have the knowledge and
expertise necessary to ask the tough questions and
not rubber-stamp the administration's decisions.

Who is Jeff
Bowser?
I have been married to my wife, Patty,
for 20 years. We have a son, who is a senior at
Foothill and a daughter, who graduated from
Foothill in 2001.
I am a graduate of UC Davis with a BS in
Biochemistry, CSU Hayward with a MS in Educational
Leadership. I graduated from the California School
Leadership Academy with a professional
administrative credential. As a recent graduate
from the Chamber of Commerce and the City of
Pleasanton's Leadership Pleasanton Program I am
keenly aware of the economic, social, and
political climate of our community.
I am a member of the Pleasanton Chamber
of Commerce, Pleasanton School District Budget
Advisory Committee and the Chairman of the
Legislative Committee for the Pleasanton PTA
Council. I have been the President of the Hearst
PTA, President of the Foothill Little League, and
the President of my homeowners association.
As such, I am ready to address the many
financial issues facing our schools so we don't
lose what has made our schools in Pleasanton so
great. Over the past two years our schools have
been faced with cuts from Sacramento that have led
to increased class-size, elimination of entire
student programs, and loss of reserves to pay
expenses and repay loans.
As a school board member, I work on your
behalf to minimize the impact of these financial
challenges to ensure high quality programs and
great teachers for our children.
